Retiring Pilot Steps Off Final Flight to an Unforgettable Surprise

A retiring pilot stepped off his final flight and received an unforgettable surprise. He was making his final departure, walking into the airport, when he happened upon a scene he had not anticipated. Watch the short but heartwarming clip to see what the retiring pilot was surprised with when he stepped off the plane.

Nearly everyone has a lifelong goal of retirement. Looking toward to those Golden Years, sitting back and relaxing, without the stress and worry that comes with a 9-to-5, sounds fantastic. No one wants to be in a position where they must work until their last, dying breath.

While making a living is important and necessary, human beings were designed for more than work. The Lord wants us to explore and appreciation His creation and all that it offers. Why else would He have created such things as the Grand Canyon, the Rocky Mountains or the Swiss Alps? For that and many other reasons, working until one’s last second on Earth is not ideal.

In a clip posted on social media, a pilot is finishing his last flight. As the text in the video mentions, he had been a pilot for more than three decades. He can be seen making his way off the plane and into the airport, near an arrival gate.

Once he approaches the gate, the retiring pilot is greeted by his entire family, waiting with cheers, applause and signs. It’s clear from the look on his face that he was not expecting them at all and was utterly taken aback by what he witnessed.

In addition to being a heartwarming scene, it was likely an expensive celebration. While the text in the video never mentions this, those waiting to greet the pilot would have had to purchase a ticket to be in that position. They would not have been able to be there otherwise.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, said the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

90-Year-Old School Volunteer Proves It’s Never Too Late to Make a Difference

A 90-year-old school volunteer has proven it’s never too late to make a difference. The elderly man keeps a busy volunteer schedule, working daily with those students. Watch the short but powerful clip to hear how and why this man in his 90s continues volunteering his time.

There are people in life who have been dealt some pretty horrible, devastating circumstances. Through no fault of their own, they are in an unimaginably painful and unenviable position. Try as they might, their continued and sustained effort may or may not change their situation. Sometimes, people need a helping and loving hand, even if they are too proud or ashamed to admit it.

Sadly, it’s likely that we all know someone or may know multiple people like this. They can never seem to get ahead, and when they do catch what looks like a break, something comes along and knocks them back down again. It’s that knowledge and understanding that motivates 90-year-old Silas “Manspeaker to continue volunteering his time every day to work with a kindergarten class.

“I get up every morning and I can’t wait to come to school,” Silas says in the clip posted on YouTube.

The video explains that all 300 of the school’s students are “all experiencing housing instability.”

“I love to have fun,” he said. “The children don’t have a lot of fun in their life when they first come here. And they’re scared, they’re nervous. And my job really is to keep them happy, safe.”

The clip also adds that Silas works with the children by helping them become better readers and teaching them sports and math.

The best part of his volunteer experience is seeing the difference in each of the children, seeing how much they’ve grown.

“So, watching them grow, from Day 1 to today, phenomenal,” he added.

This isn’t just something he started last month or even last year. He began volunteering his time, offering to work with the students for the last 15 years.

Philippians 2:4 “Not looking everyone to his private good, but keeping in mind the things of others.”

Teen Survivor of Texas Camp Flooding Rewrites 'Hallelujah,' Creating Powerful, Tear-Jerking Version

A teenage survivor of the deadly flooding of a Texas camp rewrote the lyrics to "Hallelujah," creating a powerful and tear-jerking version. Her new verses to the beloved tune are emotional, moving and sure to bring a tear or two to your eye. Watch the short but chilling clip to listen to the young woman's powerful lyrics.

Unfortunately, tragedies, such as natural disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes or flooding, do occur. Everywhere we look, whether on social media or any television news broadcast, we are quickly reminded of this fact. Also, depending on when and where they take place, they can be absolutely devastating and horrific, leading to immense pain and heartache.

Texas, specifically the central part of the Lone Star State, was recently the site of massive flooding. Sadly, according to Fox News, more than 130 people were killed as a result of the flooding. Among those who lost their lives were nearly 30 young people and counselors at Camp Mystic, which is described as a "private Christian summer camp for girls."

But despite the tragedy, through all the hurt and gut-wrenching pain, one young woman, a Camp Mystic camper, shared what she experienced during that horrible situation. In a clip posted on YouTube, she added her own words, creating a new version of the Leonard Cohen hit classic song from 1985.

It will be difficult not to shed a tear or two while listening to this young woman perform her updated version of "Hallelujah" as she sings of the devastation she witnessed, but also of the love and kindness she felt in the tragedy’s aftermath.

"Our faith was strong

You showed us love

Like only God from up above

Your prayers and hugs and love overwhelmed us"

What a powerful and moving tune that captures the hurt and devastation she and her fellow campers experienced. But through all that hurt and loss, this young woman remains hopeful, obviously moved by the outpouring of love, kindness and generosity shown to her and those impacted.

Colossians 3:16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Thankful for the Master's Hand
